Position Overview: The Elementary at Columbia County Christian School plays a critical role in shaping the academic, spiritual, and personal growth of students. This position requires a commitment to providing a Christ-centered education, integrating Biblical principles into the curriculum, and fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and challenging learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic Instruction

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons across core subjects, including Bible, mathematics, language arts, science, and social studies.
  • Incorporate various teaching methodologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Use assessments to evaluate student progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust instruction as needed to meet learning goals.

Spiritual Formation

  • Integrate Biblical principles and a Christian worldview into all aspects of teaching and classroom management.
  • Lead students in daily devotions and prayer, encouraging spiritual growth and character development.
  • Model Christ-like behavior in personal and professional conduct.

Classroom Management

  • Create and maintain a structured, positive, and respectful classroom environment that encourages student engagement and learning.
  • Establish and enforce classroom rules and expectations in alignment with the school’s mission and policies.
  • Address behavioral issues with grace, consistency, and fairness.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, staff, and administration to enhance the overall educational experience.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and spiritual development.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide activities.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Prepare lesson plans, progress reports, and other required documentation.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned, such as supervision during lunch, chapel, or recess.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Valid teaching certification is preferred; ACSI certification is highly desirable.
  • Prior teaching experience at the elementary level is preferred, ideally within a Christian education setting.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of elementary curricula and instructional strategies.
  • Ability to integrate Biblical truths into academic content effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional and spiritual development.

Spiritual Commitment

  • A mature, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a demonstrated commitment to living a Christ-centered life.
  • Active participation in a local evangelical church.
  • Agreement with and support of the school’s statement of faith and mission.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and extracurricular activities as needed.
  • Contribute to the spiritual life of the school through involvement in chapel services, prayer groups, or mentorship programs.
  • Support the school community by modeling servant leadership and a collaborative spirit.
