Welding Engineering Intern

To help us drive excellence, you’ll get to:

  • Assist with the setup, adjustment, and optimization of welding schedules and parameters to support quality and production requirements.
  • Gain hands-on experience with robotic welding systems, including robot programming, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Support weld gun maintenance activities, including servo weld gun auto-tuning, pressure calibrations, and system performance verification.
  • Troubleshoot welding, robotic, and automation equipment to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Participate in new equipment launches, including welding system setup, robot programming support, and process validation.
  • Assist with tooling adjustments and shimming activities to maintain dimensional quality using inspection and CMM data.
  • Work with HMI systems, poke-yoke devices, and welding technologies from suppliers such as Bosch, WTC, Emhart, and Lincoln to improve process performance and reliability.

This internship provides hands-on experience in welding engineering, robotics, automation, troubleshooting, and manufacturing process improvement within a fast-paced automotive environment. 

Internship placements are based on both candidate preferences and business needs. Although location preferences will be considered, placement at a specific location cannot be guaranteed and is dependent on functional and location availability (Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi).
