Residential Apartment/Commercial Assistant Project Manager

LOCATION: Wilmington, Delaware

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:  Full-time 

 

Since its founding in 1953, Eastern States Group has established itself as a leading family business focusing on home building, construction, self storage and real estate development. With corporate headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, the company is currently seeking a Residential Apartment/Commercial Assistant Project Manager to assist in construction and oversight of a portfolio of apartment, industrial and self storage properties primarily in northern Delaware.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

Under supervision, the Assistant Project Manager assists in oversight of the construction and management associated with apartments, build for rent, industrial and self storage businesses within Eastern States Group.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Assist in project management of the properties, to include construction, retrofitting,and  major maintenance and upkeep provided by a range of outside contractors and vendors.
  • Assist in management of the execution of new building construction, renovations/expansions to existing buildings and tenant improvement projects.
  • Serve as the direct contact for concerns and or requests pertaining to any and all building construction related issues.
  • Contact and place service orders with vendors/contractors.
  • Oversee activities of contractors, vendor personnel, and suppliers; Monitors contracts for compliance and controls costs; monitors general expenditures of unit; performs quality control inspections to ensure adherence to contract specifications and industry standards.
  • Solicit and negotiate bids for projects.
  • Assist to manage the construction and maintenance team.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Good organizational and project management skills. 
  • The ability to take initiative, manage/direct subcontractors, and maintain relationships. 
  • Attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. 
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to read blueprints, of interest in learning rapidly.

 

Education and Work Experience

A bachelor’s degree and a genuine interest in construction industry.
