We are seeking an Entry-Level Civil Engineer – Water Resources to join our multidisciplinary team.

Position Overview

This position is ideal for a recent graduate or engineer with 0–3 years of experience looking to launch a career in water resources engineering. As part of our team, you'll gain hands-on experience working on transportation and municipal infrastructure projects throughout Pennsylvania.

You'll assist with projects involving highway drainage, bridge hydraulics, stormwater management, flood mitigation, watershed studies, and municipal infrastructure improvements. Through mentorship and on-the-job training, you'll develop technical skills, learn industry-leading software, and gain exposure to every phase of project development.

As your experience grows, you'll have opportunities to advance into roles such as Project Engineer, Project Manager, Technical Specialist, or Practice Leader.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning, analysis, and design of water resources and stormwater infrastructure projects.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for roadway drainage systems, culverts, bridges, channels, and floodplain studies under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Assist in the design of stormwater management facilities, erosion and sediment control measures, and green infrastructure.
• Prepare engineering reports, technical calculations, drainage studies, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Support roadway and bridge design teams by developing drainage and hydraulic solutions that meet agency standards.
• Assist with field investigations, site visits, and data collection.
• Help prepare permit applications and supporting documentation for regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate with internal project teams and participate in meetings with clients and agencies.
• Continue developing technical knowledge through mentoring, training, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain it within one year.
• 0–3 years of relevant internship, co-op, or professional experience.
• Interest in water resources, stormwater management, hydrology, and hydraulic engineering.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation ORD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, GIS, or similar engineering software is preferred but not required.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Willingness to learn, collaborate, and contribute within a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship or co-op experience with a consulting engineering firm, municipality, or transportation agency.
• Exposure to hydrologic and hydraulic modeling or stormwater design through coursework or internships.
• Familiarity with PennDOT or municipal design standards is a plus.
• Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
