- Base Salary: $80,000–$100,000/year

About the Role
As a Financial Consultant – Innovation Funding, you'll be a trusted financial advisor to U.S. clients, helping them identify and maximize innovation funding opportunities. Your focus will be on financial consulting and R&D tax incentives, guiding clients through the full journey — from initial assessment to claim submission.
This role is ideal for professionals with 1–3 years of R&D tax incentive experience and a background in accounting, finance, or business who want to deliver real, measurable financial impact for clients while growing within a global consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory & Funding Assessments
- Evaluate client eligibility for innovation funding programs, with a focus on R&D tax incentives
- Provide strategic financial guidance tailored to each client's situation
Client Management
- Maintain clear, consistent communication throughout the R&D credit study process
- Ensure clients feel supported and informed at every stage
Claims Preparation & Submission
- Prepare, review, and submit financial claims with precision
- Ensure full compliance with federal and state requirements
Financial Analysis & Recommendations
- Analyze client financials to uncover opportunities for maximizing incentives, optimizing cash flow, and improving financial outcomes
Stakeholder Communication
- Engage with tax authorities to defend or clarify claims when needed
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and conferences to share insights on new government funding initiatives
Business Development Support
- Identify potential clients and contribute to presentations and pitch meetings to help grow Leyton's client base
Regulatory Awareness
- Stay current on changes to U.S. tax legislation, programs, and incentive regulations, and communicate relevant updates to clients
Invoicing & Financial Tracking
- Monitor generated and collected invoices, and follow up with clients to ensure timely payment
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Partner with internal teams to ensure high-quality deliverables and document best practices that strengthen Leyton's advisory services
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business (required)
- Professional certifications (CPA, CMA, CFA, or similar) are a plus but not mandatory
Required Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in R&D tax incentive consulting or financial consulting related to innovation funding is an asset
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of accounting, finance, or business operations (legal experience not required)
- Excellent communication, client management, and analytical skills
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously
- Client-focused mindset with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial analysis tools
