Electrical Engineering Intern

Job Title: Electrical Engineering Intern Location: Los Angeles, CA FLSA Status: Exempt Reports To: VP Engineering _______________________________________________________________________ INTRODUCTION An exciting opportunity exists for an Electrical Engineering Intern to join a global engineering team. This role provides hands-on experience in electronics design, PCB layout, and embedded hardware development for advanced sensing, actuation, control, and monitoring products. The position offers exposure to hardware design, embedded systems, and compliance testing in industrial environments, ideal for students eager to apply classroom knowledge to real-world projects. 

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist with schematic capture and PCB layout using tools such as Altium or Eagle. • Support development and testing of embedded firmware for microcontrollers in C/C++. • Help prototype and validate hardware designs, ensuring proper integration with mechanical components. • Participate in functional and environmental testing (EMC, vibration, shock, climatic). • Provide support for sustaining engineering tasks, including troubleshooting and documentation. • Perform design research for ongoing projects and assist engineers in identifying technical solutions. • Collaborate on complex modification projects to meet custom application needs of key customers. • Learn and execute test protocols in the engineering lab; generate test reports per Engineering SOP. • Complete at least one technical and one business-related independent project; present progress to the executive team. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on streamlining engineering products or processes. 

CRITICAL FACTORS FOR SUCCESS • Currently pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or related field). • Must possess a GPA of 3.5 or higher. • Familiarity with basic analog/digital circuit concepts. • Exposure to PCB design tools and microcontroller programming through coursework or projects. • Comfortable using common lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, debuggers). • Knowledge of embedded C programming IDEs (microcontroller experience is a plus). • Understanding of ultra-low power mixed-signal electronics and industrial automation concepts preferred. • Familiarity with embedded designs (microprocessor, RAM, EEPROM), analog circuit design (Op Amps, Filters, SPICE simulation), and digital circuit design fundamentals. • Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn. 

PAY RANGE: $22.00 – $26.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
