About the Role
LEADOPTIK is seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Technician to support the precision assembly, testing, and continuous improvement of our miniature fiber-optic imaging components. This role is hands-on and sits at the intersection of optical assembly, test engineering, and manufacturing documentation.
Key Responsibilities
● Perform precision alignment of miniature optical components used in catheter-based imaging probes. Operate alignment stages, micro-positioners, and fixturing to achieve sub-micron tolerances
● Perform visual and dimensional inspection of components and assemblies under magnification; maintain cleanliness and handling standards for optical surfaces
● Conduct functional and performance testing of optical subassemblies and finished assemblies. Record, analyze, and report test data; flag out-of-spec results and support root-cause investigation
● Assist engineering in drafting, reviewing, and revising Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPIs) and work instructions
Qualifications
Required
● Associate degree or technical certificate in Optics, Photonics, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or equivalent hands-on experience (3+ years in optical/fiber-optic assembly or precision manufacturing)
● Experience with micro-scale alignment techniques and precision fixturing
● Hands-on experience with optical fiber handling and bonding (e.g., stripping, cleaving, polishing, epoxy or UV-cure adhesives)
● Comfortable working under a microscope for extended periods with fine-motor precision tasks
● Familiarity with reading and following engineering drawings, work instructions, or MPIs
● Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment.
Preferred
● Experience working in an ISO 13485 / FDA-regulated medical device environment
● Experience assembling catheters, endoscopes, or other miniature optical or electro-mechanical medical devices
● Familiarity with optical test equipment (e.g., power meters, imaging-based inspection systems)
Work Environment
● Class 8 Cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environment; gowning is required
● Extended periods at a microscope/alignment station
● Close collaboration with manufacturing engineering, quality, and R&D teams
