StreetSquash was founded in Harlem in September 1999 as the second squash and education program in the United States. A comprehensive youth enrichment program, StreetSquash combines academic tutoring, squash instruction, community service, college preparation, leadership development, and mentoring for young people ages 11-24. What began as an after-school program with 24 middle school students and two staff members has expanded to serve upwards of 500 participants from 6th grade through college graduation, and entry into the workforce. About the Position
StreetSquash is an approved clinical training site that provides 1.5 hours of weekly supervision with a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) for eligible staff pursuing clinical licensure. This position offers the opportunity to accumulate supervised clinical hours toward licensure requirements, gain supervisory experience, and obtain a Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) certification.
StreetSquash is seeking a driven and innovative Youth Development Social Worker with a primary focus on middle school programming and family engagement. This role integrates workshop facilitation, individual and group counseling, and youth development practices to support the holistic growth and success of middle school participants. Direct participant engagement primarily takes place during after-school hours, while the earlier portion of the workday is dedicated to administrative responsibilities, program planning, documentation, and collaboration with colleagues and families.

The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development in an after-school setting, is committed to continuous learning and professional excellence, and is comfortable supporting the social-emotional growth and well-being of young people.
This position requires working evenings until 6:30 p.m. and occasional weekends.
The Youth Development Social Worker reports to the Chief Program Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Provide bio psycho social assessment, treatment, crisis intervention, family sessions, and groups for cohort of middle school students
- Develop and lead weekly social-emotional curriculum and enrichment programming
- Communicate regularly with all staff about student needs and action plans
- Network with external stakeholders and other service providers to refer students and families as needed
- Lead and participate in Family Engagement events.
- Support with team meetings and staff development
Qualifications:
- Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in New York State or obtain temporary license in NYS
- Prior experience providing therapy to youth and adolescents; ability to establish and strengthen relationships with participants and partners
- Experience with parents and family engagement desirable
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and engagement skills
- Sensitivity to different cultures, races, and ethnicities. Works well with diverse or marginalized populations
- Knowledge of NYC Public Schools, and/or special education desirable
- Spanish and/or French proficiency a plus
- Google Suite, Zoom, and Salesforce experience a plus, or demonstrated experience to learn new systems

Compensation & Benefits: StreetSquash offers competitive compensation, commensurate with experience. Salary is $59,000 - $65,000. Full benefits include employer-supported health coverage, monthly MetroCard or equivalent transit stipend, monthly cell phone stipend, FSA, paid federal holidays, 15 days of paid vacation plus 5 day holiday break, 40 hours of sick time, 3 personal days, and 401k contributions.
