Liberty's Promise (www.libertyspromise.org) is a nonprofit organization that empowers low-income immigrant youth, ages 11 to 21, to become successful students, professionals, and engaged community leaders. Through our after-school civic engagement and professional internship programs, we help young people build the skills, confidence, and opportunities they need to succeed in college, careers, and civic life.
Program Officer (Youth Development)
Liberty's Promise is seeking a full-time Program Officer to lead after-school programs at four high schools in Prince George's County, Maryland.
Program Officers spend mornings collaborating at our Kensington office and afternoons leading programming at local high schools four days each week during the academic year. Responsibilities also include internship coordination, curriculum development, grant writing, partnership building, and program planning. Our office operates on a hybrid schedule, with work-from-home flexibility when programming allows.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with young people, building community partnerships, and making a meaningful impact.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead after-school civic engagement programs at four local high schools
- Coordinate and manage year-round professional internship program for students
- Organize guest speakers, educational field trips, and eight-week internship placements
- Mentor students through college, scholarship, internship, and job application processes
- Build partnerships with schools, employers, nonprofit, and government agencies
- Write grant applications and reports
- Track program outcomes using Microsoft Excel and Salesforce
Position Qualifications:
Required:
- Deep belief in Liberty’s Promise mission, vision, and values
- Bachelor’s degree
- Proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively
- Dedication to working with youth and helping our organization grow over the long term
- Experience in youth development, education, nonprofit programming, or community engagement.
Preferred:
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM/database systems
- Grant writing or fundraising experience
Compensation and Benefits:
Starting salary: $48,000 annually
