Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County is hiring a part-time Agriculture Program Assistant to support hands-on agriculture programming across Onondaga County. This is a strong opportunity for someone interested in agriculture, communications, community education, food systems, event coordination, nonprofit work, or Extension careers.
In this role, you will help bring trusted, research-based agricultural education into the community. You will support programs that connect agricultural producers, students, volunteers, educators, and the public with practical information and real-world learning experiences.
What you’ll help with:
- Supporting communication, coordination, and implementation of Agriculture programs
- Helping deliver educational programming through workshops, events, media, newsletters, online tools, and in-person learning
- Communicating with farms, agricultural producers, industry representatives, educators, volunteers, and community partners
- Assisting with the Onondaga County Youth Dairy Show, annual food preservation workshops, and K–12 educational events
- Helping organize educators, volunteers, and farm partners for 5th Grade Dairy Day and Onondaga County ON Farm Fest
- Supporting program evaluation, participant communication, and community outreach
- Providing information and assistance that helps strengthen agricultural economic activity in Onondaga County

Required qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent education, such as a high school diploma/GED plus one year of transferable program or functional experience
- Relevant experience, including demonstrated communications experience
- Valid NYS driver’s license and ability to meet position-related travel requirements
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and/or weekends as needed
Position details: This is a part-time, temporary position with approximately 18 hours per week. The hourly rate is $18.00–$20.00, commensurate with experience. Opportunities for continued employment likely.
