Loan Officer
MADISON CREDIT UNION
Loan Officer II
Madison, WI (Main Branch) • Full-Time • $25.00–$28.25/hour
Madison Credit Union is a community-chartered credit union proudly serving City of Madison employees, Dane County residents, and the broader local community. We’re looking for an experienced lending professional to join our team as a Loan Officer II — someone who can hit the ground running, work independently, and serve members with expertise and care.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll own the consumer lending process end-to-end and play a meaningful part in helping members reach their financial goals:
- Approve consumer loans and serve on the mortgage loan approval committee
- Interview applicants, review loan files, order credit reports and title searches, verify employment, and calculate debt ratios
- Process and close loan documents across in-person, phone, and electronic channels
- Coordinate mortgage loans from approval through closing and post-closing documentation
- Provide guidance to less senior loan officers and assist with onboarding new lending staff
- Audit consumer loan files to ensure quality and policy compliance
- Support tracking of HELOC draw periods, real estate tax verifications, and paid loan reporting
- Cross-sell lending and other credit union products to serve the whole member relationship
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- 2–5 years of direct consumer lending experience (not just financing or sales — actual loan origination and decisioning)
- Familiarity with credit bureau analysis, debt ratio calculations, and lending compliance
- Experience with electronic document and e-signature platforms
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — you’ll be working directly with members, some of whom may be facing difficult financial situations
- High school diploma required
Preferred:
- Mortgage lending or processing experience
- College degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
- Proficiency with Excel (formulas and functions)
- Spanish language skills (written and conversational)
- Notary public certification or ability to become bonded as one
Why Madison Credit Union
- Competitive pay: $25.00–$28.25/hour based on experience
- A genuine community mission — we exist to serve our members, not shareholders
- A collaborative team environment where your expertise will be valued and your voice heard
- Stability and purpose in a credit union that has served the Madison community for decades
How to Apply
Submit your resume and a brief cover letter describing your lending experience. We’re especially interested in candidates who can speak to specific loan types they’ve worked with and their experience making independent credit decisions.
