Membership Engagement Manager

Job Title: Membership Engagement Manager

Reports To: President & CEO

Full Time | Exempt

Salary: $50,000 - $65,000

Job Summary

The Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce is seeking a Membership Engagement Manager to drive membership growth and strengthen member retention across the business community.

This is a relationship-driven sales role focused on building connections, generating new members, and ensuring existing members see clear, ongoing value in their investment. You will be active in the community meeting business owners, developing referral partnerships, and turning conversations into long-term relationships.

In addition to growth and engagement, this role manages key operational responsibilities including invoicing, collections, and maintaining accurate member records.

This position is based in Reston with a hybrid structure, combining in-office collaboration with regular time in the field engaging with members and prospects. Key Responsibilities

Sales & Growth

  • Identify and engage prospective members and sponsors through networking, outreach and referrals 
  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective members
  • Convert prospects into new members and sponsors
  • Achieve defined membership growth and retention goals


 

Member Engagement & Retention

  • Build meaningful relationships with new and current members and understand their business goals
  • Proactively connect members to events, people, and opportunities aligned with their objectives
  • Support onboarding and orientation to ensure new members are engaged early

Relationship Development

  • Develop strong referral partners with existing members and community stakeholders
  • Serve as a visible and active representative of the Chamber in the local community

Operations & Support

  • Maintain accurate member records in the Chamber’s database (CRM) system.
  • Manage monthly dues invoicing and collection.
  • Track and report on membership activity and performance
  • Support Chamber events and initiatives as needed
  • Oversee the operation of assigned member-led committees and councils in support of member engagement and retention goals

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of job experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication and relationship-building skills 
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working independently, as part of a highly productive team, and in the field
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and changing priorities
  • Comfortable with both warm outreach and cold prospecting
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proficient with MS Office, Google Workspace and ability to learn the Chamber’s CRM
  • Must be flexible with work schedule with limited travel requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a Chamber of Commerce, association, or nonprofit environment
  • Existing network within the Fairfax/Reston business community
