JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Maintenance Technician
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager
Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance of buildings and installations. This position performs needed repairs and preventive maintenance to machines, buildings, installations, grounds, plumbing/sewer, and electrical systems/circuits. The Maintenance Technician ensures that standard shop/industrial safety practices and procedures are employed on a daily basis and performs 24-hour 7-day on-call duties on a rotating basis.

Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of plant/equipment maintenance and carpentry
- Ability to perform plumbing and electrical repairs
- Knowledge of standard shop/industrial safety practices and procedures
- Ability to determine material needs and secure estimates
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills to coordinate with Maintenance Manager
- Ability to prioritize maintenance needs and manage time effectively
Education and Experience
- Documented experience and training in plant/equipment maintenance and carpentry
- Must possess a current driver's license
- Acceptable motor vehicle report

Essential Job Functions
- Perform needed repairs and preventive maintenance to machines, buildings, installations, grounds, plumbing/sewer, and electrical systems/circuits
- Determine material needs, secure estimates, and coordinate with the Maintenance Manager for the purchase of materials/services
- Perform any other work-related duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager
OSHA Standards
- Ability to work a standard 40-hour workweek, with flexibility to respond to maintenance emergencies outside of normal hours
- Ability to perform 24-hour 7-day on-call duties on a rotating basis
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Ability to pour concrete, hang sheetrock, and perform major carpentry/construction work
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
- Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and reach regularly
- Ability to use both hands in fine and gross manipulation of tools and equipment
- Ability to see well enough to perform detailed repair work
- Ability to hear and speak well enough to communicate via phone and in person
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions (indoor and outdoor, heat, cold, humidity)
- Ability to work with electrical systems, plumbing, and mechanical equipment safely
- Ability to operate power tools and equipment
- Ability to drive to various agency locations as needed
