Director of Accessibility and Support Services

The Director of Accessibility & Support Services provides individualized support and advocacy for students with disabilities to ensure equitable access to educational opportunities in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other applicable laws and institutional policies. The Director assesses student needs, coordinates academic accommodations, promotes accessibility awareness, and collaborates with faculty and staff to foster an inclusive and accessible campus environment.  Salary offer will be commensurate with education and experience.

Examples of Duties:

 

Plan, organize, implement, and oversee all activities and initiatives related to the Accessibility Services program, including but not limited to:

  • Conduct intake interviews and assessments to determine eligibility for accommodations under ADA/Section 504.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Accommodation Plans (IAPs) for students.
  • Develop and maintain a referral network with local clinicians, mental health clinics, and hospitals for therapeutic and emergency services. Act as a liaison with off-campus counseling providers to support student mental health and well-being.
  • Supervise Student Success Center staff to ensure effective support and program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Testing Coordinator to schedule and administer exams with appropriate accommodations.
  • Provide academic and personal guidance on disability management, self-advocacy, and student success strategies.
  • Consult with faculty and staff on the implementation of accommodations and the adoption of inclusive teaching practices.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records in accordance with legal requirements and institutional policies.
  • Coordinate auxiliary support services such as note-taking, testing accommodations, assistive technology, and interpreter services.
  • Lead campus-wide efforts to educate the community on disability rights, accessibility, and inclusive practices.
  • Refer students to appropriate internal and external resources, including tutoring, mental health support, and vocational rehabilitation.
  • Participate in staff meetings, college-wide initiatives, and ongoing professional development activities.
  • Act as the primary liaison to the WIN Academy—facilitating coordination of services, ensuring alignment of accommodations, cyclical monitoring, and promoting successful transitions.
  • Coordinate with the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE)on relevant policies, reporting, compliance, and state initiatives to ensure institutional alignment with state accessibility and disability standards.
  • Serve as Chair of the College’s Campus Assessment Response Evaluation and Solution (CARES) Team, supporting early intervention and crisis response strategies.
  • Prepare and compile biweekly, semester, and annual reports for Accessibility Services and the Student Success Center, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with institutional goals and reporting requirements.
  • Travel and flexible scheduling may be required. A valid driver’s license or access to reliable transportation is essential.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

 

  • Master's Degree with a preference for major in Counseling, Student Personnel (Guidance and Counseling), Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related discipline and 2 years of related full-time experience
  • Experience conducting intake, engaging, and documenting the interactive process related to ADA accommodations
  • Strong people skills
  • Computer Skills
  • Ability to work as an effective team member
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong skills in setting priorities, organization, and time management
  • Previous Higher Education experience is preferred
