Position: Agri Science Teacher
Location: Milford Central Academy
Reports To: Principal
Starting Date: August 2025
Qualifications:
- Ability to perform essential job duties.
- Candidate may have industry experience in the field of animal science or hold teacher certification as outlined below.
- Teacher Certification: Hold or be eligible for a valid Delaware Agri-Science Teacher Standard Certificate in accordance with 14 Del. C. § 1550.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Strive to implement by instruction and action the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Serve as the FFA sponsor and support students in the annual FFA state-wide competition.
- Lead the AgriScience pathway by recruiting students into the pathway, attending training and state-wide meetings, and advocating for the program’s needs.
- Manage budget provided by Career Technical Education federal and state funding and local fundraisers and donations.
- Recruit members of an advisory board and host an annual meeting to collaborate about the AgriScience program.
- Collaborate with Milford High School AgriScience teachers to ensure curriculum is aligned vertically and to provide a seamless transition for students into high school.
- Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policies and administrative regulations.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policies.
- Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Collaborate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives and methods.
- Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Maintain and operate the AgriScience area and equipment.
- Provide for his or her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning. Participate as a member in the Professional Learning Community.
- Support students in their efforts to obtain cooperative learning experiences.
- All other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be according to the current salary schedule and the Professional Agreement. Twelve (12) month position.
Salary and Benefits: Salary range and benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with Board of Education Policy.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
